The work preoccupies
itself with themes revolving around the body – the body as
deconstructed, dehumanized and objectified. In particular, these
stitched fabrics may call to mind notions of sexuality,
alienation, and trauma. These pieces speak to a very specific
trauma that associates with the abject and abnormal growth of
disease. Hence, they focus on an examination of the body in a
state of estrangement through disturbing loss.

The Fine Arts
Graduate Exhibition is an annual event that brings together
students, faculty, and the wider North Bay community to
celebrate the accomplishments of Nipissing University’s
graduating class. For the participating artists, the exhibition
marks a transition between their academic studies and their new
role as professional practicing artists. The exhibition is
juried by a panel of guest artists, professionals, and faculty.

This audio environment is based on the dialogues
of Brenda Jones. The scripting (Voice #1) is spontaneous and follows
a set of points/questions we mutually agreed upon. Brenda’s
discusses her illness, her desire to communicate some wisdom for
future generations, her mixed heritage and how that plays into her
thinking. More... |

Fascinated by language, power
structures, and systems of control, I often end up constructing
Neo-Baroque, maximalist bizarreries: video installations,
animations, and performances. My ongoing body of work, An Anthology
of Familiar Tones, addresses the performance and interpretation of
musical language, and what it means to be in tune.

The small sky panels
of Motel America, painted or sketched on site during various
road trips, explore the perpetual flux of natural systems, a
cyclical passage of time, visual and physical memory and, above
all, a connection to the infinite through the experience of the
present moment. More... |

The fluidity of the passage of time and
our realization of our own humanity as time moves forwards,
binds us all together. Water and it’s unearthly properties has
been used as a metaphor to illustrate the uneasiness and the
anxiety caused by major life transitions.

Humanity and
nature collide outside my front door. In a world that values
multi-tasking, speed and competition, I seek stillness and
serenity. Nature is my muse.

Bodily Functions is an ongoing series of small
scale works dealing with the physical make-up of our bodies as a
collection of individual cells, organs and systems. The body has
been a continual subject of my practice and these works try to
re-imagine ourselves by looking at the ecosystems, the strange
wildness contained within our physical forms.

The
White Water Gallery is proud to present the ongoing North Bay
Comic Jam. A comic Jam is more or less a ‘build a strip’
wherein anyone can start a panel or add a panel to the strip to
make a collaborative piece of work.
